Project SADC HYCOS FRM, South Africa

In collaboration with the GIZ (German Society for International Cooperation, Deutsche Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH), SEBA was able to equip several countries in southern Africa with measuring stations for the river basin of the Zambezi.

The countries affected thereby were Botswana, Mozambique, Malawi, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Tanzania. In addition to the nine pre-configured servers, a total of 23 stations were provided, eight of whom with rain, air temperature and humidity sensors. Particular attention was paid to the vandalism andanti-theft safety of the stations, which is why they were deliberately not equipped with solar panels. Thanks to the extremely low power consumption of the SEBA-products, the stations can be sustainably installed and they can provide reliable readings.
Each country was equipped with a central server, so that all the data could be processed, even that from the Central Air Service and the supervising authority for the catchment area of the Zambezi (ZAMCOM, Zambezi Watercourse Commission, Harare).
The project scope included the procurement of hardware, installation of stations and trainings for the HYD STRA Software (Australia). The project management conducted by SEBA was recognised by Germany and Scotland.
